Myth of the Maker

Myth of the Maker is the first book based on the tabletop roleplaying game The Strange.  I’ve played Numenera (also made by Monte Cook games), so I figured I’d see what the world of The Strange had to offer.

It’s clear that a lot of thought went into this story.  Cordell suggests an answer to the question posed by the Fermi Paradox: Given the high probability, why the heck aren’t there more signs of life in the universe?  The answer – which I won’t give away here – makes for great storytelling.

Myth of the Maker has a nice balance of eerie scenes and humorous characters.  The opening hooks the reader from the start.  The story remains entertaining all the way through with effective pacing and relevant plot developments.

I look forward to the next story from The Strange!

Myth of the Maker is clearly one of those stories that was drafted and allowed to ferment for years into a rich and imaginative tale.
